Punjabi is spoken by over 150 million people worldwide and serves as the primary language of the Indian state of Punjab, as well as parts of Pakistan's Punjab province. It is predominantly spoken in northern India and eastern Pakistan, with vibrant Punjabi-speaking communities found in countries like Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Spanish, on the other hand, is spoken by over 600 million people worldwide and is the official language of more than 20 countries, including Spain, Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina. It is also widely spoken in the United States and various other countries, making it one of the most spoken languages globally.
Punjabi belongs to the Indo-Aryan language family and is closely tied to the cultural and historical heritage of the Punjab region. Whereas Spanish is a Romance language, descended from Latin, and uses the Latin alphabet with additional accents to indicate stress and pronunciation.
Punjabi and Spanish differ in their grammatical structures. Punjabi typically follows a subject-object-verb (SOV) sentence structure, while Spanish follows a subject-verb-object (SVO) pattern, similar to English. For example, in Punjabi, one might say "Mai kitaab padhda haan" (I book read am), whereas in Spanish, it would be "Yo leo el libro" (I read the book).
The writing systems of these two languages also vary significantly. Punjabi uses Gurmukhi or Shahmukhi scripts, depending on the region, while Spanish employs the Latin alphabet.
Despite their differences, both Punjabi and Spanish cultures emphasise respect through language. In Punjabi, honorifics like "Ji" and specific phrases convey respect, such as "Tuhada haal ki hai, Ji?" (How are you, Sir/Madam?). In Spanish, respect is shown through formal pronouns and verb conjugations. For instance, "¿Cómo está usted?" (How are you?) is the formal version, while "¿Cómo estás?" is informal.
Both Punjabi and Spanish cultures share strong family values, deep respect for elders, and a love for celebrations and festivals.
You can easily translate Punjabi words, sentences and phrases into corresponding Spanish.
For example:Typing "ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਇੰਡੋ-ਆਰੀਅਨ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਪੈਨਿਸ਼ ਇੱਕ ਰੋਮਾਂਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਲਾਤੀਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਹੈ।" in Punjabi will be converted into "El punjabi pertenece a la rama indoaria y el español es una lengua romance derivada del latín."
You can also use this software as a dictionary to convert Punjabi to Spanish.
For example:ਬਹਾਦਰ (Bahadara) meaning in German will be "Corajudo"
ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ (Sabhi'ācāra) meaning in Punjabi will be "Cultura"
